The triptych shown in this post is the only artwork I painted that year. In it I find the emergence of a lot of the ideas I've been developing in my work since then.
The presence of bones, the diamond pattern, Haitian presidents, the interpretation of a figure by Hector Hyppolite ("The Great Master" in this case)...
The Triptych "Mes rues impudiques" was produced during a month long residency in Baie-Saint-Paul during the 30th International Symposium of Contemporary Arts in August 2012. This month of open workshop was an incredible time for me. It allowed me to reconnect with myself as an artist and overcome a block where I could only draw the objects of my every day life for the longest time. I am grateful.
I also got the opportunity to meet 11 wonderful artists from all around the world. I encourage you to go check their work.
Arnaud Vasseux - Carole Baillargeon - Étienne Tremblay-Tardif - Jean-François Lauda -
Jim Holyoak - Jonathan Plante - Louise Viger - Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf - Nazafarin Lotfi - Tammi Campbell - Yvon Gallant.
You can find the final works from the symposium's amazing artists in this album.
